Yes, I am talking about human resource. A Business is only as strong as the people behind it. I know many big time business owners in the 1990s who were running good businesses because they had good apprentices under them, but after they settled those apprentices, they ended up with average replacements. In the end, their businesses are no where to be found today.

If you really want to succeed in 2020, you should take a minute to look at the people who are working for you.
So, today, I want to share some simple but powerful management lessons from global businesses and top CEOs around the world.
#1. As a Manger or Leader, Your Time is too Valuable.
Many business owners waste time doing things that will not move their businesses forward. From today, focus on 10 percent activities that will generate more results for your organisation.
Bill Gates once said: “No matter how much money you have, you can’t buy more time.”
If one of the richest men in the world says this, then better believe it. Because it is true. The time you are wasting today engaging in some unimportant activities will not be gotten back.
So, what is the way out? Hire “QUALIFIED” people who can do those tasks while you focus on being productive.
#2. Consider Firing Someone as the Most Caring thing to Do.
Do you have an employee that is not performing? Fire that person.
One of the secrets of top business leaders is their ability to employ top performers. If you have an employee that is not generating the required result kindly find out why.
However, when all other requirments are met and the employee is still not succeeding, don’t waste your time extending their time, fire them.
Sometimes, firing someone brings out the best in him.
#3. Focus on Hiring People who can Replace You.
You need to have people you can learn from. Your job will be much more easier as a leader if you employ those who are smarter than you.
Why do we have one generation businesses in Africa? Because most business owners wants people who are below them to work for them. So, when they are sick, their businesses will be sick.
So, from today, hire and work with top performers who are interested in your industry and can replace you.
#4. Trust Only the Fruits
People lie on CV. People can tell you what they can do, but the summary is, what have they done and what result did they produce?
Only assign task to people based on the results they acheive. Don’t ever use emotion or relationship (e.g. he is my brother so let him be the manager, she is my daughter so she is vice president).
Assign small task to your staff, and if they perform better, assign bigger tasks to them.
People are very important to any organisation and your people mangement skills is very important if you want to take your business to the next level. One final note; when dealing with people, it is important to develop policies that will guide them.
